Pictures pictures

So after looking at all the great pictures of Keri's kids I dragged my kids out to take some pictures of them. I wanted to take them to the sunflower field, but it was all fenced up..not to friendly looking. --they weren't to keen on sunflowers either..lol.. So we found a nearby cornfield that was very nice looking. And then of course I had to edit all the pics like crazy.

Trip to Tooele

This last while we have been in Tooele visiting my sister. Her husband just came home from some military training and has been gone for about 6 months. The family is ECSTATIC to have him home! My sister's family is very close, so 6 months seemed like 6 years! There was a huge family and neighborhood bbq with an awsome slip and slide. It was so much fun. There was also a bday cake for Ren--their youngest who just turned one. Happy Birthday Ren!! We had a great time!

Some thoughts...

The last few days my thoughts have been stuck on Kendra's blog. About her sister in law that died in that horrible plane accident last weekend. Life will never be the same for those touched by Mandy and the others in this terrible accident. Never. It will never go back to normal or the way it "use to be". It really is true that death is only difficult for those left behind. Without the knowledge of eternal families, death would be unbearable. I didn't know Mandy. But I know Golden, Met and their families. And if she is anything like they are, then the world lost someone really special. Lots of love to you Kendra...our thoughts are with you.

MMMMMmmm Chocolate

So in preparation for our trip to SLC tomorrow I'm making bread and cookies for the drive and for Dustin's welcome home party. I found a recipe for Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies
that are so yummy. They remind me of something that should be made at Christmas time. I LOVE the combo of chocolate and cinnamon and I of course used a full bag of chocolate chips!

Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup and 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup margarine
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2-1/2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets. Stir together the flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cinnamon; set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the margarine, brown sugar and white sugar. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Stir in the dry ingredients using a wooden spoon. Mix in the oats and chocolate chips. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto cookie sheets, leaving 2 inches between cookies.
  3. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until lightly browned. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

Summit

So lately I have been crazily busy helping plan Summit for the Knights of Freedom
groups here in Southern Utah. This is the first year for the summit here in southern UT. Last year we participated in the summit in SLC and had
an awesome experience. For two days the boys were trained and inspired about living knightly. Then imagine 80 boys chanting "Fight!...Fight!...Fight for the right!!!" Then to have them running and charging to fight Lord Pellinor (yep! straight from King Aurthur.) who had threatened their queen and their freedom. This year we have Aurthur's cousins (that threatened him in history)as the villian, Cerdic of Saxon, so it will be another promising adventure. We need volunteers if anyone is interested!! (Hint hint Bill!!)
